How it works
ABA therapy can occur in various settings, including homes, clinics, or schools. At Everest ABA we provide therapy wherever the client would benefit. This would include at home, at the clinic, and at school. Our devoted team of BCBAs and RBTs provide the therapy.
A BCBA is a highly trained, state-licensed professional who utilizes applied behavior analysis (ABA) to help build skills and increase communication. They supervise RBTs, who implement therapy plans under their guidance. BCBAs focus on creating individualized plans to help clients achieve goals, while RBTs work directly with clients to teach new skills and improve behaviors.
A BCBA requires a master’s degree in behavior analysis or a related field, supervised experience hours, and certification. An RBT undergoes a 40-hour course and an exam.
A session begins with the RBT building rapport with your child through their preferred activities. Structured and unstructured activities, tailored to the child’s goals, are then alternated. Data on progress is collected for monitoring by the BCBA. Each session is personalized based on the child’s goals and preferences.
Yes! ABA sessions focus on play and positive reinforcement to keep children motivated to learn. We avoid punitive techniques and prioritize activities led by the child.
Absolutely! Parent and family involvement is crucial in treatment planning. Learning strategies used by our team enables parents to support their child outside of sessions, facilitating long-term progress.
We provide ABA therapy in home-based, schools and community settings across NY and NJ. Contact our intake team for location-specific inquiries.
Progress & Assessment
The initial assessment identifies your child’s strengths and areas for improvement. Progress is monitored by the BCBA during weekly supervision sessions, with formal re-evaluations every six months.
Sessions vary based on the treatment plan, typically ranging from 2 to 5 hours, depending on individual needs and goals.
The duration of therapy varies based on individual needs. While a typical intervention may involve 15-35 hours per week for 1-3 years, our approach is customized, with no “one-size-fits-all” recommendations. Contact us for an individualized assessment.
